Digital Animator Position

"We’re Looking For ‘Creative’ That Can Enhance All Of Our Projects."

From The Desk Of Eric Dahl
-Eugene, Oregon

Here's What I'm Looking For and Not...

We are looking for a creative Animator to develop excellent visual frames with 2D, 3D or other techniques. Your work will give life to both internal and external projects.

You possess a creative eye and artistic aptitude. You can easily turn a script or a concept into an impressive computer-generated animation.

To excel in this role, you must be highly skilled in computer animation software and storytelling.

Personally, I’m under a lot of pressure to make the cash register ring for our clients and I need someone that can rise to the occasion and constantly push the envelope with our creative.

Speed is very important to me. If you’re a slow worker or a slow implementer or a slow learner – we simply won’t be a good fit.

Lastly, I expect you to have a can do attitude. I can’t stand complainers or those that talk a good game but nothing ever gets done. What I really want is someone who lets their work do the talking for them.

Some typical tasks you might do in a day (note: you don’t need to know how to do all of these just yet, but must be willing to learn)...

...What You'll Be Doing:

  • Read scripts and storylines to understand animation requirements
  • Prepare presentations with raw designs to customers
  • Develop storyboards for the initial stages of production
  • Create models, drawings and illustrations by hand or electronically
  • Join images with background graphics and special effects
  • Ensure synchronization of frames and audio
  • Participate in editing process
  • Direct the work of animation assistants
  • Collaborate with team members (designers, directors etc.)
  • … and much, much more. No two days will ever be the same.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as animator
  • Knowledge of 2D/3D, stop motion and computer-generated animation
  • Experience in project management
  • Proficient in CGI software (Photoshop, 3ds Max, Maya etc.)
  • A creative storyteller with presentation abilities
  • Comfortable working with deadlines and budget restrictions
  • Teamwork and excellent communication skills
  • Degree in computer animation, 3D/graphic design, fine arts or relevant field

You need to be a hardworking, self-starter, who is coachable, dependable, determined, driven, accountable, tech savvy, and naturally obsessed with details.

Additional Requirements:

# 1

Intermediate knowledge of internet marketing, tracking, conversions, sales funnels, sales copy, upsells, etc.

# 2

Intermediate knowledge of some of the tools we use… like WordPress, Optimize Press, Infusionsoft

# 3

Intermediate knowledge of ad creation, ad placement and ad management (i.e. banners, ppc, solo ads, etc).

Optional Skills (Not required, but a plus):

  • Basic HTML / coding ability
  • Photoshop
  • A great eye for design

Compensation and Getting Paid:

Right now work is assigned on a per project basis and as soon as part-time or full-time work is available (provided you’ve worked well with us so far) you’ll be among the first people we contact. Rates average out to $25 an hour starting out. If you’re starting out with fewer skills and learning as you go, compensation is going to be lower. The right person for this role will also deeply value the learning experience.
