Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income fame is someone I think you should look up and follow. He makes most of his money from promoting other companies’ products. He has a podcast, YouTube channel and blog but most importantly an email list.

He’s a great example of implementing the 5 steps  I teach my clients:

Step 1  – Marketing Funnel: Create a marketing funnel with automated follow up (mostly email but this can include phone, voice broadcast, and direct mail). A marketing funnel includes all the products/services you offer in a specific sequence-of low cost to high cost offers.

Step 2 – Content Marketing: Once you have a  marketing funnel, then it’s time to add content to attract your leads to your funnel. Examples of content are articles and video blogs that help you attract your target audience to join your email list/mailing list.

Look, Facebook likes or YouTube subscribers, although nice, won’t make you money like your email list/ mailing list will.

It’s your #1 asset. No one can take your list away from you. For instance, YouTube has been known to blacklist accounts, etc. And need I remind of Google’s infamous slap?

I say again: No one can take your email or mailing list away. You have complete control!

In effect, most businesses are doing things backwards! Instead of starting with YouTube videos, or logos, you should be building your high converting marketing funnel. It doesn’t make sense to do any kind of marketing until you have your marketing funnel laid out.

So, once you have your funnel in place, only then can you now start to attract leads to it via your content.

Step 3 -Traffic Generation: Here’s where you begin to utilize things like Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and advertising of your content. The goal is to get more eyeballs to your content, those eyeballs become leads moving through your funnel and ultimately becoming your customers at lightning speed.

Step 4 – Web Development & Branding: Now that you have a funnel that converts leads to sales in a predictable fashion, you’re now getting tons of traffic to your content…now you can begin to focus on branding yourself via a web page, optimize your logos appearance, etc.

Step 5 – Video Marketing: Video marketing is last because of its expense. This is the time where you invest in commercials, infomercials, in-depth sales videos, etc. Video Marketing optimizes all of your marketing.

The point of this article is to illustrate, as simply as possible, my observation that I’ve yet to see a business or personal brand that did all 5 of the above steps and NOT be successful.

And following the steps in order is important.

Frankly, just having a marketing funnel in place will help you see a positive ROI super-fast!!!

To wrap up, Pat Flynn is a great example of using all 5 of my steps to amass a 6-figure (monthly) business. You’re still here reading so I want to ask you an important question before I log out.
